Wendy Fare ARAS

I was born in Norfolk, England where I studied Commercial Design at Norwich School of Art. I have always had a passion for drawing and painting and although it wasn’t my main focus for many years, I am now able to concentrate more time to my love of art.

I studied portraiture at the Royal Art Society of NSW with Lesley O’Shea and continued working towards the RAS Diploma with Joe Bezzina (including drawing, landscape, still life and portraiture). I have always enjoyed sketching and painting people and love the challenge of achieving a good physical likeness. I endeavour to capture the essence and personality of my subject and I am not happy until I have achieved this. I am now an Exhibiting Member and Associate of the Society. I am also a member of Lane Cove and Drummoyne Art Societies and have received many awards in their exhibitions over the years.

I am primarily a portrait/figure artist but also enjoy contemporary landscapes. My style leans towards impressionism rather than photorealism. I use a variety of mediums depending on my subject. For portrait and figure work I usually use oil on canvas or pastel whereas for landscapes I might use acrylic. I also enjoy using charcoal and experimenting with mixed media.

I have done numerous commissions and always welcome the opportunity to do these. I have an Instagram page (Instagram.com/wendyfareart) which shows most of my recent and some older work.
