Bruce Harkness ARAS
Born in New York to Australian parents and raised in California, Bruce is a contemporary landscape artist living in Sydney. He produced colourful, imaginative drawings throughout his childhood and, as a young adult, he attended night classes at Sydney's National Art School.
A fruitful career in the advertising industry as an art director gave him the creative freedom he'd always sought including the opportunity to use his visualising skills daily.
Since 1997, Bruce has been an exhibiting artist, working mostly in acrylics on canvas. Through his paintings of real and imagined sea and landscapes he seeks to evoke a feeling of peace and quiet mystique. His most recent award was 1st prize – Traditional Representation at the Royal Motor Yacht Club’s 2013 Marine Art Exhibition for his painting ‘Timber Dinghy, Clareville Beach’.
