Evert Ploeg will be holding a full day portrait-painting workshop on Sunday the 9th November.
This noted artist has numerous awards and accolades including two People's Choice wins in the Archibald Prize, winner of the Shirley Hannan National Portrait prize and an Exceptional Merit award at the Portrait Society of America.
"Being just a one-day class we are limited in the way that we can build up the texture of our paint.
In this workshop we will employ a direct 'Premiere coup' approach (using a reduced palette) to construct an oil sketch full of confident brush strokes. During the morning session we will concentrate on the initial laying in of shadow forms and shapes whilst paying particular attention to composition.
As the day progresses I will teach you to fine-tune your technical skills and show you how with observing simple tonal relationships, you can carve a portrait out of your canvas.
Come and get your hands dirty! Bring your gloves and your rags and lets paint and wipe and get this portrait happening!" |
