![]() Teri Hiley is a Sydney born artist who currently lives and works in Rozelle and the Blue Mountains.A painter who works in watercolour and acrylics, she also enjoys screenprinting and photography. Whilst she likes to explore and capture the abstract qualities of her subject matter, Teri's obsession with detail means her images continue to be reassuringly realistic. Even though variations on a theme emerge, each of her works is linked through subject matter and colour. She likes to paint in series: "I like the process of making art. The step by step building up of an image. I like the mental stimulation of planning and executing a work. More ideas flow once I start on a theme and I like to explore as many parts of them as I can. That is why I paint in series or do screen prints that I call my "What if...prints". It is often in hindsight I can see the common thread that runs through them all" Following completion of her Art Certificate Course at Meadowbank College of TAFE where she studied with Frederick Bates and Jocelyn Maughan, Teri did a B.A. (Visual Arts) at Sydney College of the Arts, Balmain. She taught at various high schools for ten years before retiring to paint full time. Teri has been an award-winning member of the Drummoyne Municipal Art Society since 1978, was made an Exhibiting Member of the Royal Art Society of NSW in 1999 and joined Blackheath Art Society in 2001.
